Build a Database and Feed It Everyday

When you read the Millionaire Real Estate Agent book a million times like I do, then you know that a key to success in business (not just real estate) is to build a database and feed it everyday. In this week’s episode we talked about low cost community events that drive new people to your database.

If you just expect people to subscribe to your content by posting things on social media, leaving a link on your website, or trying to attend a million networking events to meet people – it could take decades to build a database large enough to satisfy your goals. Community events allow you to engage with people you would not meet otherwise and they voluntarily sign up to hear from you. All things considered, it’s really a win win scenario. The community gets the value you are providing from the event and you get their contact information to give them even more value in the future.

Build your database and feed it everyday. Who should be in your database?

Don’t mistake Sphere of Influence (SOI) for database. These are two separate things. Your SOI is a list of people you know AKA “Mets”. They would recognize your name or face. You have a relationship with them already. Mets do get added to your database so you can systematically communicate with them, but they are not the entire database.

The other portion of your database is your “Not Mets”. Not mets are people you do not know. Not Mets are all the people you target market or advertise to in hopes they will contact you directly.

Community events are easy ways to gain “subscribers” to your content. You don’t have to go door to door, spending thousands of dollars on direct mail, or personally attending networking events!

Additionally you want your database to consist of both the Not Mets and Mets. As the MREA says, feed it everyday. You can easily add 100-200 people through small community events – if not more!

What type of low cost events are you doing to gain contacts?
