Have you been “Unsubscribed”? In this week’s episode of Seeking the Best we talk about clients and customers unsubscribing. This can mean unsubscribing from your email campaign or straight up unsubscribing from you as their agent. In real estate this can feel so personal and it is easy to take offense. I mean how could they, right?! However it’s important to note that ALL businesses lose some customers each year. We are not immune to that fact.
I recall reading a stat a few years ago that every year businesses lose 14% of their customers. I don’t remember where I saw that stat, so I did some digging to see if I could find a more recent and relevant figure!
It’s no surprise that my research revealed there are entire departments at companies dedicated to tracking these kinds of stats. Customer retention is extremely important because we know that it costs less to keep a customer than to gain a new one. That’s true in real estate as much as any other industry.
So How Many Clients and customers are unsubscribing each year?
According to an article on Zippia.com, the average company loses 10-25% of its customers each year. In real estate I think you may not even realize you are losing customers because they won’t need your service every year. Add up 10-25% each year over a 7-10 year period. That’s a lot of lost customers if you’re not careful. Take a listen to this week’s episode. I talk about why I think people unsubscribe and how to set expectations and make sure people are getting value they actually want.
I believe the simple act of telling people what to expect and how frequently to expect it will decrease your level of unsubscribes immediately.
What are the top pieces of value you share with your clients and customers in an email campaign?
